This is a European project with different industrial and academic partners. It's in the realm of photonics. The aim of the project is to develop a new type of laser, which operate in the infrared, visible, and ultra-violet wavelengths. The name 'Agilight' comes from the fact that we will combine piezoelectric materials with photonic materials to give 'frequency agility', i.e. fast tuning, to such lasers. The more interesting applications for these lasers, which could also give some visual inspiration are: atomic clocks, quantum technologies. For graphics color schemes I suggest Purple, Turquoise or Red (recalling UV and red wavelengths which are used in atomic clocks) Design ideas: 1) A depiction of a light wave with a color gradient from purple to brown through the rainbows colors (pastel, not too saturated), where on one side (purple) there is a depiction of a cloud of atoms (referring to the atomic clocks) and the other side a molecule (referring to glucose/bio applications for near-infrared radiation) 2) Something that plays on light, and on the 'agility'. For example that gives the sense of movement or vibration. The full spectrum visible-IR aspect should also be depicted though. 3) Something that also takes into account the integrated photonics approach. In integrated photonics, light propagates in waveguides, on a photonic chips (5x5mm). Key elements of photonics chips are waveguides and ring resonators. They are coupled together by proximity. Light naturally couples from one structure to the other when they are close enough. The two 'G's in Agilight could become resemble the ring resonators and some straight sections could be the waveguides.
